The LA Zoo is practically in our backyard and has become a favorite activity in our household.  We have our zoo routine down – start with the sea lions, make our way to the flamingos, on to the gorillas, zebras, giraffes and chimps and then past the elephants on our way out. Temperatures are rising and the fact that it’ll soon be 80 degrees by 8am means that we’ll be hitting the water table instead of heading to see the animals.  For the next few months, this is as close to an elephant as we may get.  The only problem, it’s three times the price of a zoo membership.
