Coming from a Jewish home, I can safely say that matzo ball soup truly is like penicillin (except it doesn’t give me the body rash that penicillin does).  There really is no better cure for the common cold.  And the same apparently holds true for babies.  Because my son is under the one year mark, I made his matzo balls with egg yolks only and boiled them in water with tiny diced up carrots and celery (I didn’t add any spices).  He ate more in one sitting than I’ve ever seen him eat.  And it just so happened to kick his cold on its butt.  Aside from the perfect flea market find, there are few things that have given me greater pleasure!
